If you are not making additional offers via upselling, chances are you are leaving money on the table. Upsells are an important part of any coaching business. If you are not actively upselling, you are letting your customers down – as well as your pocket book.
Why Upselling is Critical
Upsells are important because it puts extra income into your business, without a lot of extra work. You also have the opportunity to provide more to your customers when they are already in the buying mindset. Would you only lead your customers half way though a dark forest? They are coming to you for information and are willing to soak up as much as possible.
By upselling to them, you can give them a chance to further their knowledge while also providing more revenue to build other products. Upselling should be a major part of your business. Without it, you are cheating everyone.
How to Evaluate Your Upsells
How well is your upselling working? If the answer is “not good,” then it is time to evaluate your techniques. It should be designed to catch your customer when they have just made a purchase. The reason for the upsell is to provide them with a related product and more information to help them grow quicker.
My new program, Tweak It and Profit is featuring a complete step-by-step guide to creating profitable upsells this month. Here are some of the questions we review:
- So how does your upsell technique compare?
- Are you offering similar products or just throwing items out spontaneously?
- Are you letting your customers know why they need the upsell product too or do you expect them to just keep buying?
As a coach or consultant, upselling should be a big priority for your clients. If you are not offering one, chances are, your techniques are weak and need a little revamping. Don’t worry. But it is not as difficult as you would think, just a small tweak here or there can make all the difference.
