For the past couple of weeks, I’ve had to take my twin daughters to daycare as their summer school program doesn’t begin until mid-July.
Keeping them home isn’t an option for me, if I want to get my work done. So my husband and I split the duties of driving them to their school for daycare, which is about 30 miles or so away. But instead of driving back home another 40 minutes, I often ‘camp out’ at my satellite office: Panera. After all, it has free wi-fi, great tea and yummy treats.
It’s nice to be there. There are others who are obviously working remotely too. And no wonder, it’s comfortable, purposely. Panera wants you to stay longer than for a quick bite. And it shows in the staff, who after a week here, have gotten to know me. (One even sent me over a cookie saying that it looked like I needed a break from writing.)
There’s a lot an entrepreneur, coach or consultant can learn from Panera and one of the main things is branding.
No matter where you look at Panera, even in the bathrooms, the branding is consistent. You know the familiar golds, rusts and greens throughout it.
The artwork is… well varied and focused. No matter what the style, each piece of art incorporates something about Panera… a load of bread. At first glance you may not even notice it, but it always brings a smile when someone does.
The key to Panera’s branding success is consistency in their message. They stick to one theme and keep in going in signage, in uniforms, in seating, on their website… everywhere.
