We’re moving to the San Francisco Bay area at the end of the year.
I know; I know. You might be thinking… well, Shannon has finally drunk the kool-aid like many coaches who feel they’ll get greater success in the California sunshine. Hey, after all, if the cows are happier in the Golden State, surely you will be.
That’s not it at all. Let me explain:
Last night, I received the official news from my husband who is in California.
The Board of Directors of a major human rights nonprofit has voted to hire him as their executive director. Now, to be honest, this wasn’t such a surprise; as he had already received an employment contract and package. However, it made it difficult to do ANYTHING, including share the news. We have been in a holding pattern for weeks.
Sure, I have hinted about it in emails and on social media, but until today, I could not share this exciting news.
You see, it’s not really about me at all. It’s about my wonderful and very smart husband, who has worked in his field for so long, and has been at the UN for years, that it was time for him to take on something new. And because of his global human rights experience, the positions ‘out there’ are in a few major cities, one being San Francisco. And since that area is the place Matt & I have thought about retiring to, it was a natural for us to start enjoying the area now.
Although moving across country with two girls and a dog is a big deal, moving my business is not. I purposely created a business that was portable, long before it was ‘cool’ to do so.
Why? Because it’s about lifestyle, of course. It always has been.
And I’m not talking about spa days, convertibles, and long walks on the beach. It’s about creating a business that works for you and what you want! For me, it’s always been about Matt. I started it so I could travel internationally with him. Then, when the girls arrived, it became about Lyra and Sophia. I wanted to be there for them as much as possible. When they received Autism diagnosis, I needed to beef up on the laws and become their advocate.
Lifestyle coaching isn’t about money per se; it’s about time and how you want to spend it… the emphasis on YOU!
So this move isn’t really a big deal when it comes to how I approach my work with you. I’m not going to double my fees. I am not going to go all woo-woo. I still will be practical and direct to get you to your ideal lifestyle faster.
So what’s next?
Well, needless to say, I will be busy getting a house sold, finding a new home and new schools for my girls.
But I’m not going to drop out of sight. Hell, no.
You – my clients and subscribers – are my life line. Many of you have become close friends and many more are always supportive of me, and my life. You will keep me sane through this. And I appreciate it.
So I will share the trials and successes of moving a business (and life) here on this blog. If you have ideas, suggestions, etc. please share them!
And starting next week, I’ll be holding a move sale until the end of the year. Each week, I will feature one of my programs at a significant discount. It will be fun and you’ll get some great deals.
California… get ready to be Cherry BOMBED!
