Well, maybe that title should take out the word ‘sometimes.’
You see, as part of my new rebranding effort for Be Heard Solutions, I’ve been revamping some of my products and programs. And lucky for me, I have a group of very smart entrepreneurs who ‘got my back’ during this process.
And one thing several of them told me – but until recently I didn’t see myself- is that I give too much too quickly.
You see, everything I stand for is about integrity. I’ve worked with coaches and other consultants who bottle & sell hope.
I’m sorry, but hope – although an important thing to have when running a business – doesn’t pay the bills or feed the kids. I’ve been burned and seen others burned by this. So silly me… I thought if I did the opposite (that is, give so much real content that you’ll see the difference) I’ll stand out more and people will buy – and perhaps more importantly, like me.
Turns out, I was using a fire hose when a refreshing drink of water would do, at least that’s what my friend and colleague Shawn Driscoll says. Shawn is very smart at seeing through the clutter of a business and getting to that thing that makes you unique and profitable.
However, I prefer to think of it this way: I tend to be like your favorite ice cream. If you consume too much too quickly, you get a brain freeze.
And often times, in my effort to help, I make people’s brains’ freeze. They just can’t consume any more information. So in essence, I failed to accomplish my goal: getting you the information you need.
Case and point: my new Sponsorship Made Simple Academy. When I originally put this together, I knew I could give you everything you need to start getting companies to pay you for what you’re already doing in a short time period.
When I showed everything to my amazing copywriter and marketing strategist Michele PW, she said that I was overwhelming people… so much information in three classes. That the copy was scaring them off. Even though she knew what I will be delivering was going to get them where they wanted to be, most people would just get a brain freeze and not buy.
So I rewrote the copy – and it turns out as I was rewriting it, I expanded the Sponsorship Made Simple Academy to something that was much more ‘digestible’ and valuable.
So why would I publicly share something like this? Because I know there’s more than a few of you ‘ice cream’ people out there and I want to show you it can work if you take a step back.
Take a look for yourself: here’s the ‘old’ ice cream shovel sales copy: http://www.sponsorshipmadesimple.com/indexold.html and now, here’s the new, improved version: Sponsorship Made Simple Academy. See the difference? Doesn’t the latter appeal to you more? (And if it does, you should join us to learn how sponsorships can boost your profits and your visibility.)
