I’m an advocate of planning. As the saying goes, without a plan you plan to fail.
But planning means nothing without action. Because nothing will happen – even with the best plans.
And I don’t know if it’s the summer heat or what, but I’m hearing a lot of complaints lately about not getting things done lately.
Is it a lack of motivation? Actually it has nothing to do with it.
Experts in the field of human motivation tell us that instead of waiting until we are motivated to take action, we need to reverse the process and take action to get motivated.
That’s right. If your get-up-and-go has gone, you may need to fake it til you make it. By acting enthusiastic and taking a little action, you may rediscover the energy you need to get moving in high gear.
So, next time you just don’t feel like it, stop blaming the heat (or whatever excuse you come up with) and do it anyway. Start pretending what you need to accomplish is wonderful (because in the end it will be) and pretty soon you will feel like it is.
