The holiday season will be upon us in no time. And that often means we need a little extra in our bank accounts as we all tend to spend a bit more than we normally do during this season. And when I think of holidays, I think of sales.
Your sale doesn’t have to be that complex. All you need is a little bit of marketing strategy, an in-demand product and a captive target market. If you put these three things together, you can and will make money quickly.
Yet, we’ve all seen sales online that are… shall we say, more coal in our stocking than something that evokes the holiday spirit. But if done correctly, it’s a very straightforward, honest and reliable way to gain customers and produce revenue for your online business. It’s about using your business savvy to produce a fast, reliable revenue stream. And most of all, it’s about knowing and understanding the power of the word “discount”!
The typical way a quick sale like this works is:
- You offer a product or bundle of products.
- The price is extremely discounted.
- It’s for a limited time.
The last item is key. Many people make the mistake of extending the sale because the first few days were so profitable. While it’s true you can sell more if you extend the sale for a longer period of time, you will most likely see two issues:
- If you hold a sale for an extended time, it’s not really a sale and will not create the sense of urgency you need for success.
- If you extend the time of your sale, you will alienate your customer base. People will think you never intended to have a ‘limited time’ sale and thus, you’ll lose some credibility in the process.
People love to save money and a holiday quick sale banks on that love. Urgent sales lead to urgent purchases and urgent purchases lead to immediate income for your business. No matter how you look at it, a quick sale truly is a win-win for both you and your customers.
