What’s the key to a great business? Being grateful you have customers, prospects, subscribers and followers. After all these people are the lifeblood of your business.
That’s why in order to be grateful, you need to pay attention to the quality of those relationships. Each person you connect with needs to know that they’re appreciated.
Let me share some questions to answer for you to get serious about your relationships in your business:
Take a look at your customer list, even if its small at this point. Assess what would your life be like if they didn’t buy from you. How would you pay your bills? How would you take vacations? How would you enjoy the same quality of life without your existing customers? Chances are, you would be working for someone else, without the freedoms you have as a business owner.
Now take a look at your prospect list, your subscribers, and your social media followers. Imagine your life without these people. They represent the potential to boost your income. Without them you would stay exactly where you are right now, and every single customer that you lost would not be replaced.
2) What are you doing to show your gratitude?
Document what you have done recently to show you are grateful to each of these markets: customers, subscribers, and social media followers. Does it feel like you are taking them for granted? Are you helping them enough?
For example, you may post industry news to your Facebook page twice a week. If that’s all you are doing, you may quickly realize that you’re not doing enough.
I post a free tip every day (yes EVERY DAY) in all my social media circles under the hashtag #cherrypickedtip. In addition, I offer a lot of free content in my emails and on this blog. Then there are the giveaways. I give tons of real information in ecourse and ebooks. And every so often, I gift a product or two to people who I want to show my appreciation to.
3) What can you do better?
It’s time to start brainstorming ways to show your business connections that you do appreciate them. How can you show your connections your gratitude? Don’t worry about whether it’s logistically realistic at the moment; just use this as a brainstorming session.
For example, give your social media followers entry into a sweepstakes. You might provide your subscribers free services. Now take a look at the realistic possibilities. What can you get started with today? How can you create a plan to consistently show them how much you appreciate them?
But it’s not enough to brainstorm. You must also take action and commit to your customers, prospects, and social media followers. For example, if you’re going to give your customers a free information product on monthly basis, tell them that you’re going to do it and let them know when to expect the first report.
Then follow through on your promise. That follow through is an invaluable way to earn their trust, respect and their repeat business.
